I have a Magpul MOE on my rifle. I really like the cheek weld of the STR but can never find it in stock at a decent price in FDE I thought about getting a B5 Bravo or BCM but the FDE will be off. How is the cheek weld on the SL?

I really like the SL.  I don't know how it compares to the STR though.

I'm getting mine from PSA tomorrow. I'll try to report back.

Never used an STR but am a big fan of the SL

Have an SL on a SBR, it's a great stock and fits on tight. I generally like more of a SOPMOD style stock (at least with magnified optics), but have been really happy with the SL.

Even some of the MAGPUL stuff doesn't match in color, so I wouldn't concern myself with matching it up.  We aren't talking matching bras and panties here.  And as you use the rifle and the stuff gets dirty and worn, you will hardly be able to see the difference, if at all.

Also, I am not sure what you mean by a decent price but they are not a $30 or $40 stock and Hamlund Tactical shows them in stock as of the time I am posting this.

Well I really can't tell much diff in the cheek weld between my B5 and the SL. There's a little less to "weld" but it's comfortable and effective.

Am I the only one having trouble installing the SL handguard?

I have done both the mid length and carbine. A little tight but follow the instructions and you will be ok.

What part are you having trouble with?

I can install either the top or bottom pieces but that's it.  The covers dont want to go together once either is mounted   I read  somewhere the round and not triangle end piece is needed???

The regular MOE is a piece of cake!

Its a very tight fit, but it does work. (with a round handguard cap only though)

Yes, the SL handguards only work with the round end cap that is behind the FSB.  They will not work with the triangle cap.  I have installed a few.  They are a tight fit but go together nicely and are very solid once installed.

I had a dickens of a time installing the SL handguards on a LMT. I finally got my wife to help me-- it takes [ me ] 3 hands, went right on then. It does fit good and snug though, feels good in your hand...... Not removing it any time soon though....

Keep an eye out for the SL-S which will be a SL/STR hybrid.

I like a wider cheek piece, generally (STR, SOPMOD, EMOD), but the SL is good for a "streamlined" stock. I hate the M4 and CTR feel,  so the SL is a good middle ground. Eagerly awaiting the BCM mod 1.

That's my new go to stock. It's great except for how loose the fit is. I wish magpul made a slighy bigger enhanced version the same size as the Sopmod Bravo stock for more urban precision application
