I have a lightweight titanium BCG that I'm using on my 10.5" AR Pistol.
Currently running on a KAK Shockwave Buffer Tube and Shockwave Arm Brace. Just got my stamp approved for SBR and I would like to get some opinions. 1) Get VLTOR A5 Buffer Tube setup 7 position which I have heard great things about it. My question is whether the lightweight titanium BCG will cause any issues running on the VLTOR? Anyone running titanium BCG with VLTOR setup on a 10.5 SBR or similar length? 2) My other option would be to use the same buffer spring system (Wolff spring/Taccom buffer) and just replace the buffer tube and arm brace with a mil spec buffer tube and magpul stock or something. I have the SLR adjustable gas block to make adjustments. Just trying to see if VLTOR is the way to go for an SBR in my case or stick with Standard mil spec length. NOTE: not running it suppressed at this time. Maybe in a year or two. I would appreciate any feedback, Mike |

Anything that will run with a rifle spring will run with the VLTOR A5. I've never seen anything that actually ran better with a carbine spring.
It uses a standard rifle spring and VLTOR has lighter and heavier buffers. There is no reliability disadvantage to the A5 with any AR that will function. I use A5s and have never had any trouble with one. I never had any trouble with carbine parts either. |
