Don't know if this is the right forum for this or not, but here goes.  I picked up a Midwest Industries 9" quad rail for my pistol build and was wondering what the most comfortable rail covers for it would be.  I want to do a hand stop on the bottom and I'm open to suggestions on that as well.  I've seen the Magpul XTM hand stop kit and rail covers, but I wanted to cover all the options.  Thanks.

This is going to be really difficult to answer since what someone likes is very subjective. Do you like slick hard plastic, rough plastic, or rubbery texture.  Do you want thin or thick..

I get the hand stop kind of in certain circumstance shooting.  But, I just can not get on the rail cover train. Not a fan of the look, there really is no function, adds unnecessary weight, makes the rifle look bulky and takes away from the good look of many rails.

On my one quad-rail I have round Magpul covers on the right side and bottom but on the left I have ladders.  A combination of types. More ergonomical.

I have these Magpul covers on three sides (short one panel on the bottom for bipod attachment).  Four sections to a package, which covers one rail.

Gives it close to A2/M-4 ergonomics.

I've always liked plain old ladder rails covers, Magpul or Ergo.  They add the least amount of weight and bulk. They protect the rail and your hand pretty well while adding some grip.  They are easy to trim to length, and allow for easy on/off if needed.

I also run ladders on quad rails and I have run every rail cover at some point.

I run ladders on Quad rails and I've tried most everything on Keymod and just got some Mlok.  I prefer to only use them where my hands go and not just cover the whole hand guard.  Lighter and thinner the better for me.

I have always been a fan of the Surefire Z70 ladder rails. Soft but strong and dont take up a lot of space. Usually run ~$16 per 3pk

I've used Magpul XTMs. Way too bulky.
Larue index clips are nice. A little less bulky.
Finally settled on Ergo/Magpul ladder covers. Decent grip, decent rail protection, and not bulky.

Ladders here...I've tried all kinds and always seem to end up going back to ladders

I primarily have quad rails and all but one use ladder covers.  I just don't like to add to much bulk.  I also don't cover the entire rail in covers.  Just the sides and bottom rails.  I do have KAC rail panels on M4 clone and they're nice but definitely bulky.

I prefer the LaRue Index Clips. Those things are simple to use, protect very well, look good, feel good, versatile and the special clips that come with them are really handy for securing wires. They have hand stops too.

I've tried ladder rails but wanted more protection. I tried Magpul rail covers, but wasn't in love with them. I thought they felt bulky.

Other than protecting the unused rail section from damage, assuming the rifle sees some actual hard use.

Ditto.  Ergo makes the Magpul ladders BTW.

Ladder covers. I've also found that the very cheapest ones on Ebay fit perfectly. Some on there now for $6 shipped for 4 x 7" covers...

What can you recommend with a rubbery texture?

Mine arrived today. Very pleased for $6. Thin, low profile, but comfortable. They fit great and can be cut to size. Plus they are $1.50 a piece!

Magpul XTM handstop kit at the bottom and left side (I'm right handed), except the left side I'm just using the large hand stop.

The right side is a combination of XTM enhanced (in the area where I grip the most), and regular XTM panels.

At the top rails LaRue index clips, I used to use Magpul ladders but upgraded to the index clips for better rail impact protection.
