I'm nearing the end of a .20 practical build and need help picking a trigger. The gun will see most of its time shooting groundhogs and if I can get them to come out to play a coyote or two.

What I'm looking for is a single stage trigger with around a 2-3 lb. pull. I ran across this http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Hiperfire_Hipertouch_24C_Trigger_AR15_Competition_p/hf-hpt24c.htm while searching and it seems to have everything I'm looking for. I have never heard of this company, I was hoping someone here would have some experience with them. I also have never had a rifle with a straight trigger, I do have a 1911 with a straight trigger and love it. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated also.

Any other suggestions on triggers? Thanks for the help.

The cmc 3.5 flat single stage is what I use. Love it for 150-180 depending on where you look.

How about the Geissele triggers? I'm trying to get my hands on one at a shop to test and see how the 2-stage trigger feels.

Geissele has impeccable customer service.

Or, you can buy some other brand, and hope.

Hipertouch triggers get very good reviews and they are very popular in 3 Gun, where fast shooting necessitates a good single stage trigger.  If you're not sure about the flat trigger, their 3 gun model is identical to the 24C except it uses a traditional curved trigger.  The Hipertouch is also somewhat unique in that you can change springs to adjust pull weight with no risk of light strikes.  That said, for your intended use I would think a nice 2-stage such as the SSA-E would be a good choice as well.  The take-up on the 2-stage gives you an added margin of safety while still allowing for a nice light break.  The 24C will have zero take up, just light pressure and then it breaks.  It will have a very short reset as well.  Also check out the 24E model, it has a little bit of initial take up, but less than a normal 2-stage.

The cmc flat 3.5 , note I don't rapid fire often and think I can shave this time with a little more practice. If anyone has a shot timer I'd be interested in the actual time. To my southern ears it's 6 shots in 1 second.

Forgive my forum noobness a link is the best I can do

Another vote here for the CMC 3.5 Flat Bow.  I love the little tail on the trigger as it allows me to position my finger quickly and consistently.

Try Velocity triggers. At $150 they are very good drop in triggers

Try the SD-E if you can, it's really, really nice.

I'm not much into single stages in AR's though so I'm probably biased.

Whatever you do DO NOT buy a Ruger Elite 452.   I have friends that write and edit major magazines and the ones they got for T&E were great.  So I ordered 5.  All 5 are creepy, grity and for lack of more polite words suck.

Interesting ... I would not have thought that, what with the red carpet roll-out and all.

ARFcom thread links to articles by writers that received a T&E of Ruger's new Precision Bolt Action are reporting those shoot well ...

I bought one and I would easily compare it to the Geissele SSAs I have installed in other rifles.  Here are my impressions in another thread.  It did display the slightest creep when I first installed it, but with some use, it no longer appears to creep and I think the trigger break has actually decreased in weight from my initial evaluations.  One thing to consider if you are trying these, is that they don't feel the same in the testing housing as they do in a rifle.  They are actually smoother and have a lower break when actually installed in a rifle.

Geissele has great triggers, at a price.  I have the SSA-E and love it.  BUT......  I also have the Rock River Arms (RRA) 2 stage.  It is everything the Geissele is at half the price.  Go with the RRA 2 stage.  You will not be sorry you did.

I felt the "Elite 452" trigger at SHOT this year. It was slightly better than a standard AR trigger. Not my cup of tea, especially not for the price. If you can not pony up for a MBT or G trigger, stick with a Rock River NM or Varmint for $100 or under. If you can afford $199, look hard at the MBT from LT.

I've also fingered a new RPR, and the trigger on that was not bad. The one I had in was averaging just over 2LBS. I'm not a big single stage fan, but it was a nice trigger. The play in the safety was a little annoying, but one can overcome that.

Read my post a couple up from yours.  The Ruger trigger can be found for about $100 and they compare to the Geissele triggers I have on some of my other rifles.  In addition to the weight measurements, I have been shooting the rifles side by side.  The Ruger trigger feels and functions just as good as my SSAs.  I know some people are going to deny it based on principle, but that has been my experience.  The range safety officer at my range agrees with me, and one of the guys that runs a local gun shop does as well.  And he is always doing that 3 gun stuff and normally sells and uses Geissele and CMC set-ups.

Well, that's good to hear; that the price has come down, and you are happy with your Ruger trigger.

I just know that the one I felt was nothing to get excited about, for me anyway.
