I'm building a 16" mid-length AR and have been considering different handguard options. This is my first build. I really like the ALG EMR M-Lok because it seems to be a great combination of aesthetics, comfort, weight, quality and price. I don't anticipate putting all kinds of accessories and tacticool stuff on it. I kind of had my heart set on the 13" black handguard, but they're sold out everywhere and not expected in stock for more than 6-8 weeks according to ALG. I could go with 12" or 15", both of which are in stock, but the 13" seems like the "just right" length to me. 15" seems too long and 12" gives up a bit of real estate. Does anyone have pictures of an AR with the 12", 13" and/or 15" ALG installed? I'd be very curious to see how they look. Any thoughts on the right length?
Also, has anyone gone with a gray handguard on an all black AR? Pictures? Any other handguards that are comparably priced that I should consider? Thanks! " |

I, too, have been hunting down a 13" black EMR M-lok. No such luck. They ARE sold out everywhere. Even getting a 12" (or any length) is pointless at this point, as the "co witness" accessory rail for them is out of stock as well (proprietary rail for co witness on these rails). I'm probably not going to wait until March just for a handguard. As much as I love the EMR, 2 months (or possibly more) is a LONG time in the AR world (new stuff comes out seemingly weekly)!
Even places that SEEM like they have them, when you actually place the order, it comes up OOS. I don't think they actually carry them. I think they are drop shipped directly from ALG (which explains why all the vendors offer the same "free shipping" on them that ALG does). There's always the UTG Pro (I know... UTG... but the PRO is US made and VERY decent quality) if you don't mind a full top rail. I'm sure there are others too, but I'm just now widening my search as I pretty much gave up on the ALG. No way I'm waiting that long. |
