Took my new 6720 to the range today for a workout.

It came seal in plastic with One 20 Round Pmag GenM3 and a Magpul rear sight. The front sight is not "F" marked but seems to be the right height for the BUIS. Contrary to what I've seen mentioned about the condition of some new Colts this one was in the condition a new rifle should be, pristine. The only thing that seemed a bit lacking was the pistol grip was grayish instead of black.

Not Mine

It ran flawlessly using a variety of ammunition which included 30 year old PMC 55gr, 62 gr green tip Lake City, and Tula steel case 55gr .223.   I also used the original included P-Mag, 30 round P-Mag, Lancer, and a 30 round  DSG.  There were no failures of any kind.
That compares favorably to my two previous ARs, a Spike's midlength and a PSA Premium. Both of those rifles needed a break in of several Mags before running at 100%

Accuracy was better than I am and did not degrade enough for me to tell as it got hot. Trigger was as good as you can expect from a single stage mil spec trigger.

Over all this may be the best $799 I've ever spent. I've wanted a Colt to go with my Colt pistols but just couldn't justify spending $400 more than the Spike's or $600 more than a PSA. At this price though the only reason I can see for not buying the Colt is if you want a mid length. I'll still use Spikes lowers when I build something, they are great quality and I am partial to the Pirate roll marks , but I couldn't be happier with this Colt. It is a keeper.

I picked up a 6720 from PSA a month or two ago and my grip was whitish as well but wore back to black. Your thoughts mirror mine and I agree best 799 spent on an AR.

Are the FCG pins large or small on the 6720?

Most all current Colt AR have the small size FCG pins, they made the change way back in around mid 2009 if I recall correctly.

I've got 3 Colt AR one made in 2010 (AR6721 HBAR), 2011 (SP6920 Sporter M4 Carbine), and 2012 (LE6920 M4 Carbine) all have small size FCG pins.
