| I picked up a 5 pos Magpul stock in a grab box and need to identify the damn thing. Its marked PTS. Here is my issue. It will not fit on an AR15, it threads about two turns and that is it. The threads on the tube appear to be different than the stock tube on my AR and the slip ring has 6 thread rings as opposed to 5 rings on the AR slip ring. Could this be for a 7.62 ? thanks in advance |

the slip ring that locks the stock tube to the receiver
ETA- this stock is built quite well and does not look like an Airgun stock... its marked MOE, magpul Industries and PTS. It also has a rubber butt pad. I will get some pics up when my photographer gets home later tonight |

The Stock itself is PTS, which is Magpul's brand of airsoft parts. They replicate true Magpul parts, but are made overseas by manufacturers licenced by Magpul to use their name. Kinda similar to Primary Arms' optics if you're familiar with how they operate (stronger quality control, but still made in overseas factories). As far as airsoft parts go, PTS stuff is very good, and given the relitive simplicity of polymer parts, chances are the PTS version of the MOE stock would be fine for use on an actual AR provided it fit snug on the receiver extension and locked up well. As for the tube it came with, since it sounds like it appears to be similar to a true carbine extension, and with the stock being an airsoft part, it's possible it is the receiver extension from a gas powered (gas blow-back) airsoft AR replica. These are the models that use parts that are surprisingly close to true AR parts, like the cycling BCG and such. You may recall a few years back when the ATF seized a shipment of these replicas and said they were close enough to be considered firearms. The tube might be just different enough in it's threads or diameter to not work on a real AR. |

PTS is Magpul branded "training" gear, I believe it's made in Asia. As a stock, it should work just fine, as long as it fits your tube. |
