I've tried searching but it's impossible to sift through all the results... I am interested in changing the receiver extension on a Bushmaster Patrolman's Carbine to a milspec size, but can't find out if I need a new spring/buffer (kit) or just the tube. Can anyone confirm which is needed, or comment on which brand is generally recommended? Any other upgrades recommended for a stock Bushmaster? I've been reading non-stop, so I apologize for the newb questions, but this is my first AR. Thanks in advance for any info or assistance.

You just need the tube -- and a new stock.  The spring, buffer, end plate, and castle nut are all the same size.  Also, you may be tempted to use a tool that looks something like this:

I recommend obtaining a better tool.

They put them on with loctite. You may need to apply heat.
