I am still very new to the AR platform but am wanting to replace the front hand guard on my new rifle and am wondering if this is truly drop in, I know it's not a free float rail but at this time I am not ready to tackle removing the FSB so is this going to work with this without removing anything other than the existing front M4 hand guard

Thanks

Yes. You just remove the old hard guards and put those in the same way you pulled those out.

I wouldnt go with the Troy.......look at these from midwest industries, just drop them in and add picatinny rail where you like....if not run them slick......midwest industries also sells aluminum picatinny rail sections but what comes with the handguard is polymer......this handguard is lighter than a standard set of AR handguards

I also recommend the Midwest Industries.
The drop in Gen ll has QD's built in and locks up very tight.

I just looked at these and they look pretty nice.

MI has nice drop in rails, but I would go Daniel Defense EZ Car, it is a drop in that has screws attaching it to the barrel nut making it free float and giving it a tigh lockup.  The EZ Car is more expensive though.

I have 2 carbines using those. I like them a lot.

The Daniel Defense EZ CAR is not a free float.

Dave,

Appreciate the info I think the Gen II from MI is at the top of the list, plan on looking around at a few more but I really like the way the Gen II looks but have not seen it in person.

You are correct, the Omega Rail is the one I was thinking of.

Are you sure the EZ Car is free float?
I have a couple of the Omega rails that are indeed free float and they require almost nothing to install. Very strong.

If the OP just wants a drop in and is not concerned with it being free floated I'd go with the KAC M4 RAS.
I have one and it is spectacular, beautifully made, rock solid and battle prover.
They are on the EE almost daily or KAC sells blems for $150 on their website.

I am looking for a true "Drop in" rail not just ready to attempt to knock out the pins on the FSB and pull all that stuff off and surly don't want to take a cutoff wheel to the Delta ring.

It is easier than you think, the hard part is getting over the fear that you are going to screw something up.
