| Just bough an FMK poly lower. Read stories about it and other poly lowers breaking and whatnot and others that do just fine. Using it for my first build. I'm in the military I use m4s daily so I'm well used to the ar platform and using it and such. I am a newbie to actually building my own. Just wan opinions on how to prevent those horror stories I've heard about them cracking around the buffer tube and also about take down and pivot pin holes being to small or misaligned with certain uppers. I'm going to plan what I use to build this accordingly based on the input I get back I only have the lower right now. I plan to just use this lower until I can put money into a more expensive one and use the upper and everything else with the the next one I buy. Thanks in advance |
| I mean that makes sense. I honestly didn't put a lot of research into afterwords dumb of me. But I liked the lightweight and the fact it won't rust and it would be easier to clean ect. So I just wanna make it work until I can't get a new one since I've already purchased it. |

The trade off in durability make them undesirable for most. In my opinion there is no advantage in using the currently available plastic lowers. It will probably function fine for you. Just don't expect it to survive the abuse real ARs can withstand. I would just chalk it up as a learning experience and order a real lower. Make the plastic one a .22 like advised above. |

The most important thing is to line everything up and if it won't fit don't force it. An amazing number of "breaks" occurred because of a hammer or torque wrench.
Other than that, take combat rolls, torqueing the buffer tube to a gazillion ft lbs, flopping the upper to clean/pull bolt, and mortaring to clear a jam off the list. I have over 5000 .22 rounds through a plumcrazy lower, and another with over 2500 .233 rounds down range. |
