I have a Colt SP1 which I bought in 1976 right after leaving the service.  This rifle is still stock and I would like to upgrade to a collapsible stock and 2 piece 4 rail handguard.  There are so many manufactures and types out there in the marketplace that I need some help from the experts.  Would like quality and functionality.  Thank you.

I'd get another gun, retro guns are very valuable in their original configurations, and they aren't exactly making any more of them.

Where can you buy an original condition Colt SP1? Almost no where. Buy a mid priced one and put what you'd like on it.

Don't do it!!! I think you could trade it for about any configuration you want but don't change that one.

I'll go along with the others. Just buy/build something the way you want it. To many people are clamoring for unmolested SP1's.

If you ask your question on the Retro Forum, be prepared for a tar and feathering.

I will admit to adding to putting a modern upper on my SP1 lower, but someone else had already modified the lower with an extra hole.

I'll trade you a brand new LE/GOV marked 6920 for it...
