Hey, let me start by saying that this is my first post. I'm not tnew to shooting or the AR platform and I;ve read posts on and off here for years and I have learned a lot. I finally got around to joining up
I'm hoping I can get some advice here. I really don't want to cut my delta ring off. I have found the Daniel Defense Omega and the Troy Delta, and Charlie rails that would fit my needs. I like the Troys because I can keep my front sight and still run a midlength rail, but I haven't been able to find much about them. The DD Omega's are supposed to be really light weight. I've found video's on the omega install and it looks really easy with no modifications but I can't seem to find anything on the the Delta or Charlies. Any advice or information woud be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! |

You dont have to cut your delta ring off.
Dont rush into a project, just plan ahead and do it right with proper tools. In regards to your question, Ive used DD and Troy and both are good products. I would go with the best combo of price and light weight. Put some thought into shaving down your sight block or maybe going low profile and doing a free float. |

I know with the rails I mentioned there is no need to remove the Delta ring. That's why I'm looking at those specific ones.
You are correct on not rushing into a project. I'm the guy who drives people nuts because I research EVERYTIHING to death. That's why I'm on here. I've pretty much narrowed it down between the ones mentioned. I would like to here anyones experiences with those specific rails. Thank you for your reponse |

Generally FF tubes require either the exposure of the stock barrel nut by removal of the delta ring or the installation of a proprietary barrel nut for the selected tube. All FF tubes are going to require the elimination of the forward handguard retainer and nearly all require the removal of the stock front sight base (FSB) to install them.
You might want to check the tubes offered by Midwest Industries. Nice selection of designs, reasonably priced, and superb workmanship. |

Removal of the delta ring is not a big deal. As mentioned any FF rail of high quality will require removal of the delta. I have the Midwest Industries Gen II SS free float 12" rail and I love it, it is a smaller diameter than most and feels great. It has only one permanent Picatiny rail on top but comes with thee Picatiny rail sections you can place anywhere. I cringe when I see a front handguard bristling with saw toothed rails.

some good looking rifles. I may have to look at the CASV now. I wonder how it would change my co-witness with my Eotech 516 since I'm keeping my standard front sight. I know removing the delta ring is not a big deal, I would just rather not at this point.
may someday but not now. Thanks for all the ideas and opinions. I'll post what I end up doing. |

The EOTech will not co-witness with a CASV. It'll be too high. I use Aimpoints with CASVs. They can use lower mounts for co-witnessing. |
