Anyone know anything about Strike Industries? Looks like they have a new hand guard with 7 sides of Keymod. This is notable as is allows southpaws to run keymod-compatible BUIS (correctly) at the 10:30 position. Here are the Keymod BUIS that could be used in an offset fashion with this setup: |

I'm very intrigued. Pretty groundbreaking product in its own right. But a $99 starting price gives it an insane value. Although they get some money back with the rail sections.
I'm in the market for something like this and the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger is the rail doesn't seem to meet flush with the top rail on the upper in the pics on the mfgs website Eta: I'm am idiot. They are ladder covers. Couldn't tell on my phone. Well we might have a test dummy in a few days |
| just backordered one from lapolicegear using code LAPG for $106 shipped. Sent an email to strike industries to determine actual weight including barrel nut and if the rail is flush with the receiver. Providing I like the answer to both those questions I wont cancel my order and should have one to show off in a few weeks |

weights seem good, not sure if they include the barrel nut?

| You guys should take a quick read over the instructions. You have to install your gas block after you install the hand guard because the fins stick in so far. This means you don't have a way to verify gas port alignment, and you have to get lucky with the keymod holes to run a tool in to tighten clamp or set screw based gas blocks. Pinned gas blocks will be pretty much impossible to use. |

Sorry, but i need to install the gas block first for peace of mind it's perfectly centered. I know it doesn't have to be, i just like it to be. |

Also a gas block with a gas tube pinned in it is going to align itself anyway. |
I think I will order up a couple of these. I REALLY wish they made a 14" for my 14.5" barrels though.
However, 11 ounces for a 15" rail, WITH THE BARREL NUT???? That is AMAZING! I love the fact that it has all the keymod slots... I am interested in possibly running the KAC keymod sights... also love the 45* offset keymod rail that allows you to run a red dot or flashlight on that 10:30 or 1:30 keymod area. I don't love the "texture" of the rail, and how useful the fins are remains to be seen. But the size, weight, and price are SPOT ON. |

Exactly like the KAC. On the RAS freefloat handguard, sure. The URX handguards, however, do not require you to install the gas block after the rail. Quoted:

I'm talking about pinning the gas block to the barrel. If you intend to cover the gas block with the rail system, it's going to be pretty tough to support the gas block properly while attempting to drive the pin in. |

And yes he's talking about the URX4 which will be my next rail.

No confusion here, it's possible to pin but its a huge pain in the ass. But why would you want to pin it? A set screw block will work fine. But if one is so anal that they think there gun won't work unless the block is pinned they could alway try one of these. MUST BE PINNED!!

| The BCM Magnesium KeyMod system will be my next handguard. Extremely lightweight and cheaper then some of the big name makers. |

Can't it be pinned, and then the handguard be put on? Quoted:

... How had was it to get the gas block pinned with the handguard installed? Can't it be pinned, and then the handguard be put on? No. Similar the KAC URX4, the gas block and tube go on after the rail is already on. The heat sink fins go from the rear of the tube up to the gas block area. I use set screw gas blocks and dimpled barrels. Pretty idiot proof for me. ;0) Once the gas block placement is satisfactory, simply loctite the screws one at a time and viola! The screws were easily accessible through the keymod slots on the bottom. |
