I purchased a complete BCM upper the other day with the DD RIS II rail and I noticed that it was different than my other RIS II. The one that is on the BCM upper has less holes milled out on the front portion of the bottom rail. My other RIS has more holes milled out. Any reason why Daniel Defense decided to do this? Any info?

Thanks ARFCOM.

They did it to reinforce the bottom rail if using a bipod/VFG. I can't find the pics, but some users (operators) were bending the lower rail in tha area, probably from bearing down on a bipod or cranking on a VFG.

Thanks for the info. Those operators must really work those rails out.
