I'm hoping someone here has ran across this issue and will have some advice.

The upper seems to fit well onto the lower but I am unable to push both breakdown pins through... I can push one or the other but not both.

Billet?  Poly?  I ask about these because there have been some issues reported.

What upper and lower do you have?

The upper was built by kak ind

The lower is Action arms with CMMG LPK

It's the FDE one in the pic

My buddy had the same problem with Les Bear uppers not fitting on any lower.  Just use a drill bit and gently open up the upper receiver holes.

Have you tried some light taps with a rubber mallet, block of wood etc?  Sometimes they are a bit tight.

Do you have the hammer cocked?

Will this upper fit on the other lower? This lower fit on the other upper?

The hammer is cocked

The upper fits on another lower but pretty tight.

The lower also fits on other upper but extremely tight...

I think the combination of the two equals clusterfuck

I've got some combos that I need to hit pretty hard to get the rear pin in.

Can you fit the front pin and pivot completely?

When it is closed, take a look trough the rear hole and see how it lines up (will need a light or disassemble the lower partially)

^^^This.

I have a few combos that are ULTRA tight. I either swap lowers/uppers until they fit better or tap the rear pin in with a rubber mallet

So it's somewhat normal to have to use a mallet? Will it ever improve?

You use a punch to break it down for cleaning?

Yes, I can pivot completely when front pin is in. It's hard to tell if rear holes line up perfectly but it looks like it's off just a hair.

If you have the time and tools, loosen up the castle nut and remove the rear takedown pin

Yes, I own a few different ones that need a punch to take them apart.  They do tend to loosen up a bit over time, but not by a huge amount.

I've had to rearrange some holsters and lowers due to this problem.

This is what they make nylon drift punches for.

I had this problem it was a take down pin that was out of spec.  Replaced the take down pin and problem was solved.
