I'm looking at getting an FSC556 but some websites have one that is 2.1" long and others have one that is 2.33" long.  Most of the sites with the shorter one are showing pictures of a devise lacking the larger OD section at the thread end.  It just stops after the wrench flats.  The pictures shown on the PWS website and most of the retailers sites showing the 2.33" version have the larger OD section behind the wrench flats/threading.

My question is, what's the difference?  I have read several posts in various places regarding compatibility with new and old Gemtech Halo suppressors.  Is on FSC556 the "old" version and the other is the "new" version?  I have to assume that if this is the case, the slightly longer one with the larger OD would be the "new" version and thus compatible with new Gemtech Halo suppressors.

Here are websites with pictures of the two.

Shorter FSC556

longer FSC556

Thanks.

Below is are my ARs with the "old" FSC556 next to the Rainier Arms XTC.  I know the old FSC556 was supposed to fit a Gemtech Halo.  I don't know if the new one will.  From what I could gather the new FSC556 was designed to hid the spacers so it has a more aesthetic look.  I would contact PWS or Gemtech to confirm whether or not the Gemtech will mount to the new PWS FSC556.

Thanks, those pictures actually REALLY clear some things up.  There was a post on another forum from a Gemtech employee saying that the new FSC556 will work with the new Halo suppressor.  I mostly just needed to know for sure what was "old" and what was "new".  Thank you very much.
