Just got back into shooting in 2012. Started with a few handguns and have an old Mauser Training Rifle. I was just beginning to look for an AR platform to relive the old mean green machine days a few months before the the crap hit the fan with prices etc. Looking for a bare bones, carry handle A2 and focused in on the Armalite. Looking for some suggestions by some folks that know there stuff about the AR and the current market. I don't currently have plans to add modifications or even a scope. I just want a good basic AR for the money in the current conditions. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Honestly, the only advice I can give you is constantly search online retailers and add an "in stock" notification. Also, check this forum for possible in stock items. I scored a few pmags yesterday. You are not going to find a complete rifle anytime soon, so it may be your best bet to try and piece one together. I have a few ARs but I am trying to piece together a few more in case something happens. Gunbroker is insane right now but if you want something right now then that's the only way. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks. I looked at most sites including Gunbroker and it is crazy so maybe I will try to put something together on my own. I really appreciate the response and have a good day.
