I'm new to the forum and have a load of questions for you more experienced AR owners.
I'm soon to receive an ambi lower from AXTS Weapons. Do any of you have an opinion on it? Is it worth the money spent on it? How's the quality? |

I have had one since August and love it...put a few hundred rounds through it and it's flawless. You won't be disappointed...it does take a while to remember that you have a more accessable bolt release right by the mag dump button though . If I build another AR in the future the AXTS is the only lower I'll use again, also if you don't have the AXTS Raptor CH you gotta get one it happens to be the best I've tried and I've tried a few. I'm itching to get going on the build.
I'm still wondering on an upper that will complement the lower. Any suggestions? By the way, I'm thinking on going sbr with it. I'm really sitting the fence on how short on the barrel though. I keep hearing that 8"-10.5" barrel bark something fierce when you shoot them and its kind of making me think twice. |

VLTOR MUR-1 upper, Noveske barrel, NSR hand guard, AXTS Raptor CH, FailZero BCG,...At least that's what I'm doing on my Noveske Gen 2 lower. I really wanted the AXTS AX556 but I got the Noveske G2 lower for a good price right before the recent events took place. |

If you have been trying to make contact with us and have been unable to reach us, we are very sorry for the delays in getting back to everyone. With this weapons ban legislation looming we have been inundated with calls and emails. We had hoped to be shipping this block of lowers by today at the latest. However, we have been completely slammed with all of this legislation talk and have struggled to keep up with demand for our charging handles that we are required to produce for our co-branding agreement with Rainier. The other issue that we ran into was that we are out of a couple of the steel parts that come with the lower to accommodate the ambidextrous controls. At this point the raw lowers are mostly processed and we are currently cutting the steel parts. Realistically we are looking at another four week delay on this shipment. | Wow your still waiting?!?! That makes me worried on when I will actually get mine. I sent them an email Dec 7th concerning my FFL not wanting to send out their info until my lower was ready to ship. Which they replied they will work with them to get the license. In addition to that they said my order will ship in 60 days. |

Only upside is it gives back ordered misc parts to come in. But the KAC Mod 1 upper I have is itching to be matched up with the AX556. My original plan was to put a BCM upper on it but now I'm waiting for a Noveske with a NSR. At least AXTS is keeping us updated. |

I consider their 60-90 day estimate on the website to be an optimistic estimate assuming everything goes to plan. Not talking down on them (especially in this current political climate), but I don't think that things to go plan for them too often. I placed my order for my lower May 1st last year and received it Oct 31st...one day shy of a 6 month wait. From that most recent update email it seems like you shouldn't be too much longer though.
As for upper reco's the Vltor MUR would match closest right now...they are supposed to be designing a matching upper, but I'm sure that project has gotten pushed pretty far back now after everything that's happened. I've got mine set up with a BCM 14.5" middy that I'm quite happy with. Assuming I'll still be able to, I'll SBR it in a couple years when my location is a little more certain. Hopefully by then they'll have had a chance to release an upper. All in all it's very worth it...it is easily my favorite AR. Honestly, being able to lock the bolt to the rear with the mag button came fairly naturally...it's having the right side bolt release that took some getting used to for me.

I was pumped reading the responses now I'm sick thinking about it. Possibly 6 months until I get the lower and who knows how long for the Form 1 to get processed.
O well. I guess I have more time to research what else to build with. By the way can any of you let me know what to expect as far as how loud it will be to shoot a 10.5" barreled rifle. Should I be looking for something longer if I don't want to get escorted off the range or be able to hear some hot chick whisper something to me at the strip club (although she will get not a single $ from me because every spare one I own will go to my AR build). |

There's a FFL down the road from me that would do it for $25 but they also insisted that AXTS email or fax them a request before they sent anything over. I figure for the extra $30 its worth it for less headache and hoping for a response from the AXTS guys to get it going.

How's the quality? just as everyone has said... its simply as good as it gets.... even if you dont need the ambi features... its just so damn sexy...especially when you use it with magpul gen 3 pmags, the magpul ubr, the magpul miad and the KAC urx II or III... thats how im setting up my ax556 build... actually a complete KAC lpr upper i cant wait.... if only they could get their act together with the ax762.... they had protos for SHOT IN 2011! THATS MORE THAN 2 YEARS OF DELAYS...DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON AXTS UPPERS.... MAYBE IN 10 YEARS AXTS WILL HAVE RELEASED UPPERS FOR THE 556 AND 762 LOWERS... I AM MORE CURIOUS THAN ANYTHING REGARDING THE DESIGN OF THESE UPPERS... HOPEFULLY THEY WONT JUST BE THE SAME OLD UPPERS... MORE LIKE THE ONES FROM ARFCOM OR MEGA.... PERHAPS THOSE PMAG STYLE RIBS FROM THE MAGWELL COULD BE IMPLEMENTED ON THE UPPER? NOT REALLY SURE HOW TAT WOULD LOOK. |
