The old stock came right off.  The new STR won't go on no matter how much I cuss.  I read the instruction 4 times.  Should I get the hammer?

Pry the tabs down with a screwdriver. If you have the right size stock/extension, it will go on.

If you push the release you'll see a horizontal pin slide down from each side of the stock from under the cheek piece. Get on top of the pins with a screwdriver and push them down the rest of the way. If you're a smoker, the opening in the top of a Bic lighter works even better.

Edit: This is a CTR but I circled the pins as they're the same on the STR, you just have to push on the lever to get a grab on them.

The tube is Mil spec same as the stock.

Did the screw driver thing and the stock is on.  The written dirrections need some work.

Thanks guys.  I didn't have to decide on which size hammer to use.

The written directions seemed fine. If all else fails, there seems to be a million helpful vids on YouTube. Insert dummy round (or similar object with pointed tip) where the locking pin is into the pin hole and pry down on it and slide stock onto receiver extension/buffer tube. It takes some practice.

Some people also use a wire coat hanger. You take the hanger and fold it in half. Then you have a loop at each end. Put one end or loop over each tab, squeeze it together and pull down. Its tricky but it works. It works better on the CTR than the STR, but it works. I gave up on the plastic bullet a long time ago.
