Folks,

new to this forum and anxious to be a contributing member once I get a feel for the surroundings.  I'm new to the AR platform as I have just purchased the AR listed in the subject line above.  My experience has been with AK's and bolt action rifles.  Just picked up this rife last week and was hoping to get an opinion from this community on this particular AR.  Again,  it appears to be a good rifle and for $699 OTD I broke down and purchased it. Any opinions or tips on this Doublestar or the AR platform overall would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

I have had a 20" heavy barrel Doublestar AR for about 8 months and have had not a single issue at all with it.  It's a damn fine rifle.  The difference between yours and mine is only the barrel, you will be very happy.  No feed issues, no issues at all.  They also have pretty good customer service for the most part.

Actually, I am considering buying another barreled upper from them with a 16" barrel.  They make nice stuff.  Since I bought mine I have noticed their ads in SGN go from a little corner of a back page to a half page to 2 full pages near the center of the newspaper.  They must be doing pretty well!

thanks DS15.  I'm taking it out to the range today to zero and to get acquainted with this rifle and the platform.

IMHO they are a good entry level AR that will serve you well for years.

thank you.  This is my first AR and getting ready to hit the range with it at 5 PM.  Anxious to see how it handles compared to an arsenal AK.  Any suggestions on best food to feed it ?  I have federal .223 FMJ for tonight's range session.

I have used only brass cases, no Wolf. Never had a problem.  Mine was pretty happy with Federal and PPU.
