Does anyone know who actually makes Aero Precision lowers? I seem them everywhere, but can't find a website for Aero Precision.
|
|
they sure keep a low profile, I can't imagine why they don't have a regular website. An FFL listing at CTD hardly counts. |

A website would suck up these questions. |

AERO makes lowers, and some uppers, for AERO (their own brand name of course), ARMALITE (including the C.O.P., Continuous Optics Platform seen on Armalite SPR Mod1), SPIKES,SURPLUS AMMO & ARMS, and NEW FRONTIER ARMORY (NFA). There are probably 2-4 more other brands but those are secrets that have been held very tightly. AERO's lowers, whether under the AERO name, SAA, NFA, or ARMALITE are all very high quality. Solid durable finish and excellent machining.

Were some of the PSA lowers with the AP prefix in the serial number also Aero Precision? Yes, the AP prefix PSA lowers were made by Aero Precision and they were low shelf. Great quality. I built several and when I ordered a new batch, I received "LW' prefix lowers that were high shelf. I called to ask about the change (back when they used to answer the phone) and couldn't find anyone to talk to that knew about the change or what the difference was between low shelf and high shelf. |

I remembered reading an article about them before. I was able to find it again with a little bit of looking around. It isn't super detailed, but it gives you a bit of insight.

| Surplus Arms and Ammo or SAA lower is made by Aero Precision in Tacoma, WA. I bought an Aero Precision complete lower w/o stock from the Surplus Ammo store in Tacoma, WA by McCord Airbase. The Aero Precision and the SAA lower looks identical except the logo. I prefer the Aero Precision logo, it's like $8 more than the SAA lower when I bought it earlier this summer. |

Aero Precision just changed logos. Here is a YouTube video I found of the production facility http://www.youtube.com/user/aeroprecision?feature=results_main

Between me and my buddies, we ordered 4 of these from the link on the first page. It's a armslist ad. They all got theirs today, I'll get mine Friday. These 3 from today look amazing. Very, very nice. Not a machine mark to be found. Not even a little scratch,, anywhere..... I would say nicer than the Noveske Gen 2 that I had, and much nicer than all the other's that I've had/seen such as S&W, Stag, RRA, and Spike's.
Now watch. Mine will be all f'd up.

All I can say is,,,WOW. Not a spec, or machine mark on them. Even my FFL was amazed that we got 4 in a row that looked this good. I got them from J&J Sports. He's the guy in the link on the first page. I'm in no way affiliated. Super nice guy to deal with. They shipped the same day I paid for them. But be fore warned. I got the last of the $100 lowers. He said the next batch was costing him/us more. Yup, that he told me the same thing. I managed to squeeze another out before the price increase. Nice guys at J&J. He even hooked me up with con-sect serial numbers on the first two I ordered. |

Anyone know the exact dimensions of the 4-40 set screw? If you mean the length,,,you can get one as short as 1/8". That's what I'm going to use. What's funny is I work at a hardware store, and we don't have anything that small. You can go to Fastenal, but you have to buy a bag of 100.
I just remembered I have some old rc car stuff lying around. I think 4-40 was a popular size for that. So if you're close to a hobby shop they will have it for sure. I gotta go check my inventory.
