Complete newb to the forum and newb to AR building.

I'm working on building my first AR, but I inherited one from my step-father recently. He bought it from a gun store in my hometown and from what I can tell it was custom build. I've been able to identify almost everything about it (except for the upper receiver which I've given up on) but right now I am trying to figure out the barrel.

It starts out as a stainless bull barrel that is fluted, then narrows down to what I would consider your average barrel. The barrel is about 17 1/2 inches overall and the bull barrel part is about 12 1/2 inches. I have attached a couple pictures to kind of explain what I am saying. Only problem is I can't get the gas block off I can't get off the muzzle break (and thus can't get off the furniture) so I am unable to take pictures of the barrel itself really.

If there are any questions, let me know. I'm not really sure what information someone may need to identify it. I am trying to figure out a value on the gun for insurance purposes and the barrel is the only thing I have no guess on. Also, if anyone knows what gas block that is offhand I'd appreciate them letting me know.

Looks pretty dang close. Mine has 6 flutes instead of 12, but it at least gives me something to guess price wise. Thanks.

Insurance companies usually want an appraisal for a custom build.
