Hey all -
These are probably newbie questions but I've never really looked into barrel twists. 1/7, 1/8 is the same as 1:7, 1:8 and means twist over number of inches, right? So a 1/7 barrel has one twist over 7 inches and thus a tighter rifling than 1/8, right? The reason this matters now is that I have two barrels, 1/7 and 1/8 and am wondering which I should put on my rifle. Both are ported and chrome lined. Any thoughts? Andy |

OP,
A while back I remember reading something about some flavors of the 1:8 barrels having tighter .223 match chambers. This might cause issues with mil spec 5.56. Others with hands on experience with this issue will be able to offer more specifics but you may also wish to consider chamber dimensions when making your decision. FWIW YMMV |
