need help choosing a good bold assembly to replace my oem one on my rock river. Any help appreciated. I was think of a Chrome or titanium one but the only titanium ones I found are bronze color Why do you want a different finish than the standard phosphate mil-spec finish, it it for easy cleaning or just for bling? For bolt carrier groups with standard mil-spec finish, the good ones are the bolts that are high pressure tested (HPT) and magnetic particle inspected (MPI), and the carrier keys are properly side staked per mil-spec, all M16 full auto type carriers, here are some of them (but not all): BCM Colt Daniel Defense Palmetto State Armory Premium full auto Rainier Arms Thunder Bolt™ Spikes Tactical If you wanted something that's much smoother than hard chrome, it’s easier to clean, makes the rifle cycle smoother, it can be run almost lube free for thousands of rounds, take a look at bolt carrier groups with Fail Zero Nickel Boron coating: Spikes Tactical Nickel Boron (Coated in Nickel Boron by FailZero using their EXO Technology.) Fail Zero Also note that some of these bolt carriers have the manufacturer's logo like, Spike's have their spider logo, BCM have their BCM letter logo, and Palmetto logo. I myself would avoid any chromed bolt carrier groups because of different manufacturers variation in quality. |
