What effect do the different profiles have on accuracy? For example, on a bolt gun barrels are typically tapered, thick at the receiver and gradually thiner at the muzzle. However on AR's, the profile can be thin just forward of the barrel nut, then thick at the middle for the gasblock and then slightly thinner (but still thicker that the barrel nut end) from the gas block to the muzzle.
Wouldn't the multiple sections of varied thickness have a negative effect on the barrel while firing? Especially having the heavy/thick portion all the way at the muzzle end which would (in my mind) cause more movement. |
