So I see that the AXTS AX556 is now available for sale, but at a price of $426.99 it is more than twice the cost of other stripped ambi billet lowers.  Now obviously it has the integrated bolt catch and mag release, which brings with it customized machined part.  However, do you folks think that the AXTS receiver is worth the substantial price increase over other lowers?

I would say no, but am curious what others think.  You could buy a Mega billet ambi lower for less than $250, and add a troy ambi mag release and be way ahead of the game.

It's a designed from the ground up, fully ambidextrous receiver that needs no add-on parts.  We work with AXTS and so have information that may not be available to the public.  It has many parts that are machined instead of cast, the A-DAC feature isn't found anywhere else (allows you to lock the bolt back by pressing the mag release button), and it's a 45/90 selector compatible receiver, you can use either the legacy 90 degree selector, or the 45 degree short throw selector.

Receivers with a right side bolt release can't lock the bolt back from the right, as it's only a release.

I know Rev-Eng has an add on that does allows you to lock the bolt from the right, but only AXTS receivers can by themselves

I don't know about that $426 price.  My AXTS A-DAC was $125.  Add a ArmaLite two stage LPK, a 45* BAD ASS and a sopmod w/RE and I'm under $425.  Knock $100 off if you go with a less costly butt.

The AXTS A-DAC with the 45* BAD ASS is the slickest lower I have ever used.  All my future builds well use the A-DAC.

The A-DAC is built off a standard forged lower, with little custom work or pieces (the selector and magazine lock piece are the main ones).  This keeps the price down nice and low.  This is in stark contrast to its sibling, which is very custom.  I don't think there is much doubt the ADAC will be the primary seller, especially as it catches on.

I'll confess that I was part of the preorder for the ax556.  I had sold several of my lowers and was in need of a new one plus had a little extra cash.  I was intrigued by not only the features but also the build quality.  I have not actually handled one but from the pics they appear to be very quality, we shall see.  Was it the best use of capital, who knows.  Seeing the features and quality I think the price is fair.

Now if I can just wait the month it’s supposed to take for them to ship if there are no delays.

I'm curious who else bought one?

Some features that may not be immediately obvious of A-DAC-F receivers.  The option and ability to do/use the following:

Norgon ambi magazine release.

Field Strip the magazine catch mechanism

Adjust the stoke of the RH bolt catch action without the use of any tools.

Either a 45 degree or 90 degree legacy safety selector.

Magpul BAD Lever or equivalent.

Maintains a large space between the bolt catch paddle and the upper receiver lowering the possibility of mud or other debris preventing the bolt from dropping.
