I have a NEW LMT 16" M4 upper and MI gen 2 drop in(also NEW).I installed the rail and where it meets the upper(top)  it has a slight cant to the right(maybe a mm). It's just a little, but still bugs me!Anything to worry about?I can't believe how tight these MI rails lock up,best deal going!

Eh, happened to me with a troy drop-in. Canted ever so slightly to the left. Eventually you get over it.

Mine may have been caused by having to bend the HG cap a little to make the rail fit. Only thing I have mounted anyways is a flashlight

I have MI rails on four of my guns.  None of them have any cant to them.  I would call MI and ask them if there is anything they can recommend, or check the front sight base and make sure that is 100% straight.

1mm doesn't sound like much, but that would annoy me.

Is the barrel nut turned?
Try sliding just the carrier into your upper and see if it binds on the gas tube.

Your barrel nut is prolly slightly over torqued & needs re-indexing.

If its the non free float model, I wouldn't worry about it.  If its the FF model, it would be something I would change if it were mine.

After looking at this a little closer,i think the barell nut is off just a bit.Could i just have this lined up by a gunsmith? The gas tube is touching the right side of the upper where it go's in with a small gap on the left. The BCG function checks fine, but i haven't fired it yet.
