2 part question to anyone who uses a Collapsible buttstock.

1: Do you use the Pads that go over the end of the buttstock, like recoil pads?

2: If so, what one did you find works best for you?

I don't use one, but I've heard good things about this one.

No, not needed.

The best reason I have ever heard to have one was so the guys rifle stood up in the corner on a hard floor without sliding out. As far as shooting with it, pointless. If recoil is an issue I'd an issue run a compensator. They will help keep you on target and the muzzle down.

My Vltor EMOD stock with built-in rubber buttpad

Yes I use rubber buttpads on all my collapsible stocks like, EMOD, IMOD, CTR and MOE, mainly so it doesn't slip from my shoulder and secondly adds a little length.

I prefer the built-in kind which screws to the end of the stock because it doesn't slip off.

A slip on buttpad could be tied down to the stock with nylon ties, paracord, etc, to prevent it from getting loose, but I prefer built-in type because of a cleaner setup.

I agree.  I would rather have the ones that screw on.

I have a MOE on my AR and it is fine right out of the box.  But if you must have a recoil pad make sure it bolts on like these ^^ guys said.  Honestly, I don't find the recoil from 5.56 an issue, in fact it's a nice break from 7.62x39 and .308

This...

I use a CTR or Imod on most of my rifles and the main reason I chose those over the basic Vltor buttstock that BCM sells for $50 is the built in buttpad.
