Does anyone have experience with the Omega Rail system from Daniel Defense?  New to AR's and looking for an easy rail system to install on my rifle.

I use one on an M4. Installation could not be easier, and it is a true free float. Also, it is very light. Keep in mind that most free float rails do not retain the delta ring, whereas the Omega does, so the delta ring must be added to the over-all weight, but it is still a very light system. The only downside is price. There are some on the EE right now for a deal.

There are decent non-ff drop in rails from DD, Troy, and Surefire, but unless you can save at least $75-$100, I would not get anything but the Omega.

I had a DD Omega and it's an excellent product.   You can install it in less than 10 minutes and its very solid.

I'm not sure, but I think it was at least three ounces when I was researching it. I may be crazy, but I think the Omega rails are lighter than double heat shield M4 hand guards. They sure as hell cool the barrel better and are more comfortable.

Just weighed one.  The Delta ring itself is .8 oz and the retaining clip+spring is an additional 4 oz.   Total is 1.2 oz.

The other upside to the Omega is how narrow it is.  A lot of rail systems are pretty bulky but the Omega keeps a very low profile.  Under 2" wide.

So omega rail is their lightest rail then overall?

I love my Omega. I think it's the best.

Just added an Omega 9.0 to my CAR over Christmas and could not be happier. Much thinner and lighter than I expected. You cant go wrong with DD.

No.

That would be their "Lite Rail."

Actually I think the omega is lighter. At least my scale says so.

You have to factor in the weight of the factory barrel nut and delta ring assembly with the Omega.
