I stopped by a major AR manufacturer today and picked up a SS 16" barrel today. When I got home I noticed that they gave me a rifle length gas tube instead of the mid like I asked for. I called them and they said to keep it an they would send me the right one. Thanks.
So a few minutes ago I was looking over the barrel and I looked into the chamber and it appears to me that the chamber was bored off-center. Right where the rifling starts, on one half of the bore you can see where they bored it off-center. The cut is on one side of the bore an not on the other. I tried to get a picture of it but after about trying 30 x's, I gave up. I am going to call them Monday as they are now closed.
I swear every time I have bought a gun or parts for a gun in the last 4 years, if I don't fully look it over, something is always wrong with them. Am I being too critical or what. I will never buy a Remington again after all of the junk I have seen from them. Thats how I know the chamber is off-center on this barrel. 5 differant 700's an every one had the chamber off center.
Also, do these cuts look like M4 cuts or standard.
