PHOTO/ <––- (If the picture doesn't show up, here is a link to it.)
I just purchased a CMMG "Chrome Lined Bargain Bin 16"  M4" and upon inspecting it I found what you see in the photo. It looks as if the parkerizing on the feed ramps is chipped. I have never shot the gun, however I have chambered a round a handful of times. This is my very first AR-15, so I do not really know if this is normal, or even if my description/terminology is accurate.
The CMMG web site states this...
*****"These won't win any beauty contests, but if you are looking for an affordable shooter, look no further! All rifles are M4 upper receivers and consist of trade-ins, demos, scratched, dented, discolored, over-runs, special buys, uglies, etc. All rifles have been head spaced and test fired and function correctly when shipped. Rifles are sold as-is with no returns.

If in doubt, inquire online, the feedback from these last year was phenomenal. Don't wait too long, these won't last long.

1/7 twist Barrels are chrome lined for years and years of trouble free operation!

Hand picked rifles will be for over all cosmetics. There is NO choice of make. Rifle includes what is pictured only, no accessories! Lower receiver brands will be Armalite/Eagle, DPMS, Doublestar and CMMG. Actual rifle may vary from photo. there is no returns  *********
I cannot find any other defects on the gun.  I have only had the rifle for a few days, and  have not  contacted them.
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Your picture isn't showing, but I assume that you are talking about the coating on the ramps cut into the upper.  If so, that isn't parkerizing, it anodizing and it doesn't chip, as far as I know.  It can, however get rubbed off with wear or dinged off.  I wouldn't worry about it.  It is a bargain bin rifle.  I don't think it will affect performance.

That is just normal copper deposits from the bullet jacket moving over the ramps along with normal crud from test firing, expect to see more copper there and natural polishing as you shoot the rifle more.

Sorry, I just figured the picture out. It is now showing up.

+1 with normal. You will also get brass colored smears on the brass deflector when firing.
Nothing to worry about, its all good. Go shoot and enjoy your rifle

Why would this even remotely bother someone?

Hey newbie it would help to clean your "new" weapon. Get a good LED light so you can tell between steel and copper.

Oh, it isn't at all what I thought you were saying.

The ramps on the receiver are fine, the copper is on the extension (rubbed off of bullet tips during chambering) and that area is not chromed on any rifle I own.  Absolutely normal.

@ altopwescap
This photo was taken in direct sunlight. How would a LED light make it obvious between steel and copper? What is your point, and why did you put the word NEW in quotations? Why would I lie if it is new or not?

"Hey newbie it would help to clean your "new" weapon. Get a good LED light so you can tell between steel and copper."

Since he has been around here so long, I think he was refering to the fact the bargin bin rifles are not new. If he wants to call folks names, hmmmm, not the place for that.

No park on the barrel extension (the part that has feed ramps), nothing th chip, the barrel extension is in the white (no coatting applied). your seeing deposits.
Aslo maybe a slight  ding on the Al lower m4 feed ramp section, but that area is not parked.

Clean the rifle the deposits will be removed with a mild copper remover.

I don't see any problems at all for a used rifle.

A308Garand you cut me to the quick!!!!!!!!  Does anyone recognize "tongue in cheek" anymore? "New" in parenthesis only meant that the old used bargin bin rifle was "new? to the OP.

Calling a fellow with 17 posts and a month membership a "Newbie" is hardly name calling. The LED comment is pretty much self explanitory.

This is not the place to encourage someone to clean a rifle and get a good LED to illuminate for inspection? Surely you jest?

I jest some
His original question should have been posted in the Troubleshooting section, but it still deserves a good response. Calling someone, "Hey Newbie",  is a sure way to get them to go away and seek answers elsewhere. Everyone starts out new somewhere. Not everyone has a thick skin when reading the posts here, but if offense was taken, sorry.

Point taken. I apologize for my misperceived gruffnes to the OP. The term "newbie" was never meant as a pejoritive.

If someone doesn't have thick skin here, they are in the wrong forum
I agree, everybody starts somewhere. I've really tried to tone my post down and be helpful.
Too many members just want to argue their point and it can go to extremes. I've been on both ends of that one.

To the OP. Nothing to worry about. Copper deposits on the feed ramp. Hopefully you will see many more.
Welcome to the forum.

Thanks to all of yall. I appreciate it. No offense taken. I will just have to thicken my skin up just like the photography forums I occasionally post in. Things can get ugly quickly, I never understood that. Anyways, its great to be here with so many knowledgeable and helpful guys. Thanks.
