This thread still rocks!
Just did my first "camo" today, a RayVin Tactical Tripod (now discontinued).
Used Krylon, 2 greeens, earth base coat, camo brown, with the sea sponge method.  Finished with a coat of flat clear.
It looks so good I'm going to try the green stock on my AICS 308 on Thursday..
And another candidate will be my MRP rifle length, I'll have to check out Duffy's work!

Slipjett and Trident:

AAC M4-2K, and yes I will get some pics up.  This is an extremely busy week for me.  I am trying to sell my house, buy another one, and I have training all week, so I can make no promises as to when I will get to it.  So keep drooling!

Another question, what muzzle device are you using on the 10.5"?

kar30....you earned mythical proportions tonight my friend....somewhere between unicorns and hover boards I would guess.

In case some do not know, I am opening a MRP museum in my basement and kar30 is graciously willing to donate a few exihibits, well actually almost all of it to date but I promised him he would get half priced admission and any ladies he brings as guest will get the MRP tour my yours truly....which is quite the service I must say

Thanks Kar in all seriousness you exemplify why I love my badness and the pals I have in it.  Truly more than I deserve and this place is full of win to say the least.

I present what Kar and I have been busy with....or really just Kar as I only contributed the MWS mag.

That's a nice start!

You are missing a current issue to that line up.

The cover reading 400 + YARDS ACCURATE is such an understatement it kinda makes me question the integrity of the writers....400 yds, ArmedSuspects Tacsol builds can hit those ranges

Where can I find that issue pal, been looking for mws stuff every time I go to wally world but no luck...that is sick with the UNS, Edwin my  recommit to mono rails if he sees those pics....I get sad when I think how far Edwin has strayed from badness as he no longer hangs here as much as before

On the cover where it reads..." 400 + YARDS ACCURATE"....that is such an understatement it makes me question the mag's integrity as that is ridiculous...

also the damn thing has a UNS and the 3rd bullet point is.....SOPMOD buttstock, and while I understand one is standard, one is not.....I dont want to here about a sopmod stock while staring at uns porn.

Slipjett-

I currently have Blackouts mounted on 3 ARs, but I am interested in trying a Brakeout, or the straight up brake that AAC makes for the M4-2K.

I saw this at my local grocery store last week. You should have plenty of time to find one. It says to display until 11/1/10. I would look at B&N or Borders, but if you can not find it let me know and I will pick one up for you.

No offense brothers but those magazines have little credibility. Look closely at the pictures. Note small things like position of muzzle, safety, eyes, finger etc.

Thankfully that aspect has nothing to do with why I love em so much but basically I just like them because its a celebration of the MRP platform.

Another aspect is that if you read through the first mag that Kar sent me you would see the amazing shots of mrps that myself or anybody else I know of can take given they spend some serious cash and bring in a badass photographer to do them.  I strickly indulge in them for gun porn reasons and sadly I will continue to buy tons of gun mags just to stare at them and set away.

Thanks again Kar, I will check out B&N's today or tom.

That is one SPECIAL MRP

So much win in the make up of it.....cpl. reasons why I love that gun....you used a UBR on an sbr confirming that all config's are enhanced by adding UBRs not just long railed front heavy rifles.  Love the 10.5" D.I. CQB in general and I am really pheening to try out some NV so that pvs14/t1 combo is straight sexy on that build.

Thanks again for sharing that one with us as its absolutely awesome.

eta...since Im completely honest in my praise in this thread.....I despise your magazine and a od pmag in its place would be ideal

Thanks pal  You cannot go wrong laying a mrp on a bunch of random rocks as the underlying meaning carries the overall pic

Did you read that bit I posted above about the lmt 6.8 vs. lmt 5.56 and then a 7.62 as part of a control above.....it made the case for the 6.8spc given you could get it as easily and cheaply as 5.56 but even then, one cannot stress how important having interchangeable mags and ammo is among soldiers or leo's...just reminded of this when some discussion came up about Seals and MK 12 vs. the MK 11.

Send me more "victims" pal....it sucks but I got this trick woodburning kit about a week after I sent those mags back and I must say that this most recent work is night and day better imho and it sucks as very little of the work done of my guns is like this as I did all of that by in large prior to the new kit.  Jboy gave me a buzz wanting some kac covers re contoured and stippled but I am not sure he wants to be friends anymore as I have not heard from him in a bit.

I will have some extensive T&E coming on the topic I have inquired on more with respect to mrps than anything else....never got an answer, nor did I get any data... so I will be doing my own answering

This is a hint....

Oh well I guess when I finally get a $3500 pvs 14 and then a $1600 IR unit for a combined $5000 worth of NV gear I can afford to replace the $100 Brakeout with whatever the fanboys are saying is hot at that particular time....maybe something with a dillo

You know me, I tend to like the dark horses which on this site would be folks like AAC and ADM.  It amazing how much of a grudge some of the old school guys on here hold over certain products within the AR world.  I would be willing to bet this brakeout is gonna be a better overall unit then my FSC556 that caught a damn towel covering a firing support on fire after like 17-18 rds. string of fire a few range trips back....the damn thing spits jet exhaust and a concussive blast that will rattle molars.

Jboy....I am just busting balls as I enjoy normally speaking with you so often on a regular basis....and no extra stuff w. the rail panels as I truly enjoy doing it for you guys willing to ginea pig it.....however those days are gone, if its black than I have total confidence....anything else I suck at.  I really do want to perform this stuff on some kac covers as you can get sick nasty on em w. a dremil and proper woodburner.  Good to hear from you pal and I am glad your back safe from the vacation....no worries or hurries in regard the covers as I will knock em out when ever you see fit to have them done.

MRP - one chassis with multi roles

Requirement: CQB unsuppressed/suppressed - NO PROBLEM

Requirement: Lightweight general purpose rifle - NO PROBLEM

Requirement: Recon/Recce role - NO PROBLEM

Requirement: 6.8 caliber for more knock down power - ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM

You taking pre orders for your upcoming tour.....given you are a MRP ROCKSTAR!!!

Damn straight, what a freaking display of awesomeness....b/t the actual "mr. do it all" CQB chassis, to the vast array of config's...all the way to the whole nfa aspect, you clearly exhibit a full grasp of the MRP system and its endless possibilities.  That stuff gets my motor running

eta....on triple and quadruple takes of your pics I am picking up some enhanced quality in them...angles, light...even perhaps a little body shine...am I wrong?

Sweet...thanks for posting em up in here as they are great pics featuring a beautiful MRP.

This was SubCalibers first AR, spoiled and ruined come to mind.....I wonder how much more advanced I would be currently if I did not dick around for several yrs. w. 6520s/6920s when first getting into ARs.  Anyway, welcome brother and its wonderful to see badness pick up another member.

Thanks Trident...figured it was time for me to post up some new pics.  I still haven't put any rounds down the 6.8 barrel.  I wish SSA or PPU would come out with some inexpensive plinking rounds.  My next MRP item is either the 12" or 16" piston kit...I cannot decide.  Forget BRD...freakin' MRP is a disease itself...

Welcome to the madness subcaliber...great looking rifle...

Congrats on a beautiful first..My first years ago was a Bushy A2 and while it never gave me any problems, I've seen the light when it comes to true quality and engineering..What you get with the MRP cannot be had with any other rifle on the market and I never plan on parting with my MRP..

My vote would be for the 12" piston seeing how you already have the RECCE covered..I am a little biased since it's the only configuration I currently own ...

That looks outstanding brother....I really like the 2tone aspect to that bad boy.   How do you like the grip inserts that you have on the moe grip and pmag?  I saw the ones for the moe/miad grips and thought about trying it on a moe.

Thanks for the compliment man... the grip inserts needs some getting used to at first but once you get the hang of it, its like having something on your grip that massages your hands everytime you touch that AR of yours hehehehe...

I am a moe lifer but I must say how dissappointed I am in Magpul for not being able to get the MOE plus out on the market yet.....I mean come on, its a moe frame with a ergo feel...should not be too hard.  That is why I think these moe grip pads came out given the huge demand for the moe pluses. I am a huge fan of massage parlors so hearing this has massaging effects makes my ears perk up

Hahahhaa yeah actually been waiting for those grips from Magpul also and its a bit disappointing on what they are doing to the market, they're like Steve Jobs showing you the latest in apple innovation but keeping you waiting and wanting for more.... but waiting and wanting more and more so when it comes out with an absurd price, you will either be disappointed or just buy the heck just to satisfy your craving...

Absolutely sweetness as always Trident...  The breakout looks awesome on that SS barrel.  Have you had a chance to shoot it yet?  Interested to know how loud it is compared to blackout M.I.T.E.R mount you have on your other fine shooter.

-Don't you have enough cans already?????

Trident-

Love that setup of yours.  I am convinced that I NEED a rifle length.  In fact I damn near bought one about 2 months ago.  I'm thinking that a Noveske SPR barrel would mate quite nicely in a rifle length MRP, now that whats his name is modifying stuff to fit the MRP.  Once I get this house sale/purchase behind me, and start building the fun budget up again, I am picturing a stretch with SPR barrel w/Switchblock and the M4-2000 setup.

This one  might be a while, as I need to complete my .308 bolt action rig first.

................I need to win the friggin lottery

Wait...what?  I thought you already had a 16" SS barrel that was blackened?  I'm confused.

Cheers

Before yesterday I was running a 16" CL.....

I had about a week to ponder using any barrel I wanted after the news came out about the availability to use any barrel and still had no doubts about what barrel I wanted....I think this new barrel is quite telling about my position in terms of Rock MRP barrels vs. all other precision match grade barrels.  Although the two Rock SS 5.56 barrels are the most expensive barrels I know of made for an AR besides a custom order krieger, I cannot stress how much I believe they merit the pricetag.  The brand new most current batch is unreal in terms of the machining and overall finish and fit.....have not shot it yet but under my bore scope its so freaking smooth it looks like a baby's butt...never seen one that had that little tooling marks so I imagine this one is gonna live up to my own hype Ive had on it.

He is going to have more MRP barrels than I do soon.  By the way,  my MWS upper with permed battlecomp made it in yesterday... very sweet.  Had to put an A2 stock on until I decide what to get permed (not going to perm the sopmod).  Going to be in VA this weekend for a carbine class and may try to run the MWS a bit (My 12" MRP Piston being the primary).

Separately, after some reading am thinking the 300 Whisper is a great round for MRP.  You can get 7.62x39 like performance with supersonic 125 grain as well as highly efficient 175 to 240 subsonic rounds.  Uses cheap 223 brass (very nice), standard 556 bolts (huge), and unmodified pmags (major benefit over 6.8spc and 7.62x39 in my humble opinion).
