I've been having problems with FTE (Failure To Eject) on two different uppers using a CMMG lower.....The lower has a full auto bolt, but today at the range I borrowed a Semi bolt and that didn't fix the issue..I can't tell if it's the buffer or spring, has anyone had any issues with a CMMG lower....
Also, very hard to pull charging handle down to eject shell....... Worse case scenario for me, because it's my SBR registered lower....Any help would be appreciated..... furn1408 |

This has happened in two different uppers......It will charge OK and fire OK, then it will FTE.......And pulling the charging handle back is very hard...again, this has happened in two separate uppers
that's why I feel it's in the buffer or buffer tube....I will try another lower I have that I know has worked in the past.... furn1408 |

Did the lower come assembled from the factory? I'd check the buffer spring length. A rifle length spring in a collapsible buffer tube would be pretty stiff.
A check would have been to load a single round in a mag, charge, fire and see if the carrier cycles back far enough to catch the bolt release. If the recoil pressure is too great the carrier does not travel rearward enough for the shell to clear the chamber. It then pushes the spent casing back into the chamber and the bolt goes into battery again. |
