I want to know what everyone has and what your opinion is?  Whould you have bought something else if you had a chance on what you know now?

I'm running JP/VTAC Modular handguards on both my gaming gun and general purpose gun. They're light, comfortable, and they give you tons of mounting options as you only put rails where you want them (including all the 45degree offset positions.)

ETA: Here's a pic. They're definitely not tacticool, but they're extremely functional.

I'm really happy with my DD omega X, I'm sure I'd be equally happy with a larue.

I shot an upper with the JP/VTAC tube a few weeks ago and the Texas sun turned it too hot to touch in a few minutes. Something to consider. If I shot with gloves on at all times it would be getting a hard look for my next build.

DD Omega if you want a real simple install
DD Lite if you are willing to change barrel nuts
Troy if you want to remove the Delta ring
YHM if you don't want to spend the money on the above
VTAC if you just want a tube with the ability to add specific items like an offset mini red dot.  They require a little more work to install than the others.

I'm sure LaRue's are great, too.  I just don't own any of his rails - only mounts.

Love mine, easily installed and very rigid.

I must admit, this is by far the HARDEST decision I had to make when completing my 6920. I ended up being torn between the Larue 7.0 or the DD Omega 7.0. I was actually set on the Larue for a while, but after reading nothing but excellent reviews of the Omega and deciding that removing the FSB was something I didn't want to try, I got a great deal on an Omega on the EE. Best this ever, COMPLETELY SOLID. Get one asap.

LaRue. Awesome. Light. Slim. Rock Solid. Love it.

I have a LaRue.  Solid!  A very close second would be the Daniel Defense Lite rail.

The DD Omega and the LaRue are both rock solid, slim and have integral QD sling sockets. The Omega is lighter but the biggest advantage is that it can be installed by anyone in about 5 min with a screwdriver.

Daniel Defense Lite Rail for me...

Too many variables to say IMO. There are a lot of good rails out there and which one I'd go with depends on the application?

I currently have a LaRue rail on my SBR, a DD Lite rail on my recce and a DD Omega rail on my M4. Each rail was selected for it's unique attributes and how well those attributes contributed to the build they were used on? There are other rails I would consider too depending on the application such as the JP\Vtac rail shown above or DD's new EZ CAR rail.

Tell us what kind of build this is going on, how you plan to use it and what you plan on mounting on it?

Depends on your budget.  You can buy Troy TRX rails for under $200.
I've seen TRX Extremes selling for $160 online at a couple of places. Pretty good deal for a free float rail that is slim and light!

If I had a spare $200 I would have gotten a DD or LaRue but couldn't justify it for my uses.  My YHM is a great value for the price.

This is the Troy TRX Extreme13" over a 16"bbl.  It is rock solid, light and comes with three rail sections you can mount anywhere.  THe 4" section also has a built in QD socket.

I just installed a DD Lite Rail last weekend, that is one nice rail. Also have a LaRue on an AR10, very nice.

YHM is straight garbage, at least the one I have worked with. Round handguard threads on with no way to get the rail portions aligned with receiver, just eyeball it... great design...

There was a chart, not to be confused with 'the Chart', floating around that had most of the major FF
and handgaurd weights on it. Perhaps someone will be kind enough to post it.

How do like those fucking manners? I have to go out to dinner with the g/f parents tomorrow and am getting into character.

My Very Favorite: VTor VIS.  Easy to build, no need to worry about clocking, & slim.
Other favorite:
LaRue: Very Slim, easy install.
Daniel Defense Omega X 12.0: Cheap and slim.
Troy Industry: No need to take off barrel nut.

Do not like:
YHM: It was very cheap ($100) but clocking the tube was a pain.  It was fat and round too.
CMMG: It was also pain in the ass to clock the rail, fat & round as well.  But it clears adam arms pison kit no out issues.
