Of course, after you've put a good number of rounds through an AR, it's not a good idea to seperate the Bolt and the barrel extenstion/chamber that have got to know each other well and have worked in (unless the bolt breaks ). What about the bolt carrier? Is it a bad idea to replace the carrier? Is seperating an upper and carrier a bad idea after they've worked in? Will it effect anything? I have about 1K rounds through an AR that I'm considering swaping out the BC.
I just got a complete EXO Coated (FailZero) BCG from Spikes. I was going to use it on a new build, but I'm thinking of replacing the carrier with the new EXO coated one I just got. Could this cause any issues? PS: I'm really interested to know if this could cause accuracy or function issues. Please don't post something like "fancy finishes are crap, forget the EXO." etc. Thanks. |

No concerns as long as you verify that the gas tube and gas key alignment.Other than that no issues as far as wear pattern, fuction or accuracy etc..
That said if you have a "known quality" shrouded carrier such as a BCM,COLT,DD or LMT etc. in place there is absolutely no reason to swap the carrier just to gain the high tech coating unless it just inspires your confidence...there is not going to be enough performance difference to justify the parts swap in my experience. So if you do have a quality carrier in place I'd personally save the Spikes BCG for a future build and leave the weapon you have as is. |
