Hi guys, a fellow awesome arfcomer made a trade with me and i am acquiring 2 new SSA triggers for a cpl. builds of mine....so my ? is:  Does any sort of "red aviation" grease come with the actual units or do i need to acquire some before i receive the new triggers?  I could wait til sometime tom. to ask the nice gent. who made the trade with me but i am already thinking that they do not include any grease for the initial install and break and if this is the case what do you rec. i go with as far as some grease to pop these puppies in correctly.

Thanks gents, and def. to the fellow arfcom trader

I just put one in this past Sunday. I put a drop of Break free LP ( You could use CLP) on the pins and in the bag was alittle tube of a red synthetic grease. this is used on the three trigger to hammer contact points. They also supplied a "Slave" pin that made the trigger install way easier by keeping the disconnector in place while the pin went in.

Could I ask you SSA users a quick question? I recently installed one and have noticed that the disconnector engagement / dis-engagement is much louder/foreceful/noticable than a normal trigger. This is especially so when the trigger resets. This is my first two stage so I'm just wondering if this sounds normal?

thanks.

Mind you the SSA is a combat 2 stage. It's not match grade. Nothing fancy about it. It just works. Mine is loud too but I don't even notice it when shooting.

THE GREASE COMES WITH THE TRIGGERS.

THE GREASE GOES ON THE DISCONNECTOR FACE AND THE HAMMER & TRIGGER SEARS. I CAN FAX YOU AN INSTRUCTION SHEET IF YOU LIKE.

CHANGE CAN BE TOUGH FOR AN OLD GUY. BUT, I'M CHANGING TRIGGERS.

I RECENTLY PUT A GEISSELE S.S.A. IN A  FAVORITE OLD COLT PRE-BAN LARGE PIN LOWER WITH SEAR BLOCK. OTHER THAN ONE NOTABLE 10 YEAR OLD "ACCURACY SPEAKS" SINGLE-STAGE THAT TOOK AN HOUR TO GET THE WAY I WANTED IT, THIS IS THE BEST SOLUTION I'VE ENCOUNTERED FOR THE OLDER COLTS.

MY 17" PRECISION RIG WITH LMT LOWER NOW SPORTS ONE OF THEIR DESIGNATED MARKSMAN RIFLE TRIGGERS, TOO. I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A BIT OF A TRIGGER SNOB. I AM QUITE HAPPY WITH THE GEISSELE TRIGGERS AS WELL AS THE RESULTS THEY CAN PRODUCE. IF YOUR PREFERENCE RUNS TOWARD A TWO-STAGE TRIGGER, THESE ARE VERY, VERY NICE.

GOOD SHOOTING,

WES

Don't know if it's Aviation grease but GA includes some.  If yours don't I'd call them

Let me get your thoughts real quick on something......would you actually ever consider a SSA for any of your awesome precision builds, or do you think the DMR b/t the two is the only one fit for a real precision rig?

The whole "combat trigger....not match trigger" i think misleads people or so far it has me.  I hear amazing review after review about the SSA's  and i do understand its not gonna be a spooky light match trigger, but is the SSA by design relegated to only "combat trigger" status with the most precision based application for it being a SDMR build or something.......all SPR/Mk 12 types would far better served with the DMR?

First the pods.....now the triggers....better not burn all my "mstn" credit up  Thanks buddy for your thoughts....anybody else well versed in the actual feel and diff. b/t the SSA and DMR feel free to weigh as well.

WHILE THE WEIGHT OF PULL OF THE SSA IS GREATER THAN THAT OF THE DMR, THE SSA IS NONETHELESS SUPER-CRISP WITH MINIMAL OVERTRAVEL; I DO NOT DOUBT THAT YOU COULD DO SOME FINE PRECISION WORK WITH IT.  IF I DID NOT SAY IT BEFORE, LET ME CONFESS - I AM A TRIGGER SNOB. MY CHOICE FOR AN ALL-PRECISION RIG WOULD BE THE DMR.

I'VE NEVER BEEN INVITED TO A GUNFIGHT, BUT I DO GET TO DO SIMUNITIONS TRAINING WITH THE LOCAL SWAT TEAMS FROM TIME TO TIME. IT'S NOTHING QUITE LIKE THE REAL THING, I'M SURE, BUT YOU DO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET PRETTY AMPED UP. OF COURSE, I ALWAYS LOSE IN THE END, AND STILL HAVE THE BRUISES TO SHOW FOR IT, BUT HAVING A FAIRLY LIGHT KAC 2-STAGE IN MY M16A1 LOWER HAS NOT PRESENTED A PROBLEM.

Would all of the Geissele triggers work in a pre-ban Colt, or only the S.S.A.?  (Large pin, of course)

I recently installed a Geisselle SSA and it is measurably better than my old standard GI triggers.

As far as using it for a precision-rig, I got the distinct impression (based on several reviews) that the SSA is a "combat-precision" trigger, where a lighter pull and predictable break is needed, but reliability is also a must (i.e. no adjustments), whereas the DMR is a pure precision trigger, mainly for match shooting. Of course, I could be wrong, but that even Bill Geisselle stated on one of the forums that several issued SPRs have his SSF (full-auto version of the SSA) installed.

For those that have used the DMR, how much lighter of a pull is it? I got the vibe that it's very... soft, too soft almost, for anything other than a precision benchrest type rifle.

I run the SSA in my precision rig, as well as my other AR's.  I absolutely love them and it is a great trigger for a precision rig as well as a combat carbine.

IMHO its the best thing going in the trigger world for the price they ask.

Lets just put it this way- if you're shooting lousy groups with the SSA, it ain't the trigger's fault

It never fails that when i ask a ? on here, i generate the best answers in the planet from you guys....Thanks guy!

Ok, at the risk of being a internet commando i will stop asking ?s about something i do not have in hand first...

First its these types of ?s.....then you will see me posting "should i switch my brand new colt bcg out for a new bcm........"

I will post asap guys once i get them, and might need a lil help with the tweeks.

Its ok to be a trigger snob Wes....for you its required, nobody wants  you not really caring what types of triggers you put in those awesome builds of MSTNs!.....might not be as awesome
