Getting ready to order my barrel parts, and I was wondering. Are all gas ports indexed in some way on the barrel, be it using dimples for set screws or grooves for taper pins? If not, how does one ensure the gas block is lined up with the gas port on the barrell? Eyeball it with the upper?

For non-indexed barrels I use a mini-bubble level or you could use a scope leveling tool. I set the upper level in my vise then place a level on the gas block if it has a flat surface.

This is where owning several acres and being able to test and tweak while shooting would be awesome.
