are there any A2 length, not carbine length, recoil buffers on the market that do not have the rattle from the weights inside? i did a search on here and all the reccomendations were for the carbine length buffers.

Huh?  Carbean buffers rattle too.

You could get one of those COLT Black Polymer rifle buffers.  I have one in my garage.

i only have experience with my 2 m4's and neither buffer rattles. i'm currently workiing on a 243 wssm project and the DPMS buffer i got rattles something fierce. i've seen the hydraulic and pneumatic deals, i just want something that is quiet when i move my rifle around.

If you are really sure you don't want the reciprocating weights to reciprocate, put an extra layer of rubber inside to take up the gap.
