I have a Bushmaster Dissapaitor style upper, with a Pacmayer monogrip.
I want to add a couple of rails to it, via bolt on rails. YHM has some, linked here: http://www.yhm.net/store/forearms.html Questions: Any recommendations for who's rails to use? I'd like to put three rails on, two on the bottom for a grip and a bipod, and one on the side for a light. Should I buy a longer rail (cheaper per lengh) and just cut it? I want at least two mounting holes per rail, so what length could be best turned into multiple sections? Thanks, |
| Without a free floating handguard, I personally wouldn't use a bipod up front. It puts the stress point out towards the muzzle where it can affect the point of impact the most. Maybe just go with a shorter rail and a grippod closer to center to keep more leverage off the barrel. That would also keep the rifle lighter and balanced better. Of course this is just an opinion and it depends on how much weight is applied, barrel profile, and how accurately you are trying to shoot as to how much it would even matter. Even with tactical rifles I do tend to get influenced by the quest for one hole accuracy (unrealistic dream for me). |
