I have an older CAR barrel , unknown manufacture, only mark I can find is "5.56" just in front of the site base.
Is there anyway to "easily" measure the twist?
Thanks

Olympic Arms. How old is it & what are the features of the barrel?

not sure the exact age, it's on a stop sign Oly lower, but don't know if it's original.
It's 11.5 with a 5.5 perm flash hider, measures .718 at the end of the barrel before the flash hider.
5.56 is the only mark on the barrel.

556 is how Oly marks their barrels. It's prolly 1/9 as are most of their offerings.

Take a cleaning rod with jag and tight patch.  Start the patch in the barrel.  Mark the rod at the top near the handle, and measure from the receiver to the mark.  Push the  rod in until the mark is again at the top.  Measure again the distance to the mark and receiver.  Take the difference in measurements.  This will be the twist rate:  one turn in so many inches.
