I'm building a 6.8 with a Denny's SS Recon 16" middy barrel and I've narrowed the handguard choices down to JP or the YHM Diamond....just not sure whether to go with rifle length, specter, or mid. Anyone got any pics or ideas?  Thanks!

The length of a mid-length rail to the rear of a FSB is about 9" & to the front of the FSB is about 11". Most low pro gas blocks are about 1" in length so the total length without a rail to the front of that gas block would be about 10". How long is a Spectre length rail? I'm assuming about 10" so it may completely cover the gas block or the front of the gas block may be slightly exposed depending on the brand you go with. Call YHM to be sure. If you want to be certain that any gas block will be covered then I'd go with the rifle length rail.

The spectre length is 9.675", it will not cover the mid-length gas block completely and the end cap will not fit. If you wnt it covered and be able to use the  end cap go with the rifle length.

THe mid-length rail will not cover the gas block on a mid-length.
