What are the top 3-5 brands that make uppers; barrels and receivers? Thanks for the advice. Im in CA so a lot of stuff is hard to find. Read up, you'll figure it out pretty quickly. Check the "What parts break in a carbine course" thread, good read. I'm also in CA, and I have found its just better to order stuff online. Some places won't even sell unregulated stuff like barrels to us because because they don't know the law and probably don't need to care with the rush on parts, but if you don't know, anything other than a lower receiver can be shipped with no other paperwork needed. I bought my KD lower at SoCal guns (will go with Essential Arms in the future, but I like that the KD factory is local), and other than that, every single piece has been ordered from out of state. I am a BCG and handguard away from going shooting once I get this week's deliveries. My list of must haves: LaRue Noveske Knights Colt BCM LMT Sabre although, there are a lot of other good quality parts out there. For example, I have a 16" Doublestar M4 barrel on the way, and it is 4150 steel, chrome lined, 1/7 twist rate, M4 ramps... pretty much the features you look for in the top tier mfgs, but we'll see how it shoots. BTW, they don't have these on their site yet (JT Distributing), but they are in stock, so if anyone wants one, mine was shipped (along with a LPK) the day I got the money to them. Vendors I have used: Bravo Company- mil spec M4 stock M4 upper receiver VLTOR VC1 flash hider magpul MIAD grip Midway USA- multi wrench vise block KNS QD pivot pin/sling mount JT Distributing- barrel LPK I am hoping M&A has some BCGs left, and I know I can get MOE handguards from PK Firearms. If Magpul keeps refusing to accept phone orders, I'll get an MBUS rear sight from Brownells. Good luck, there are lots of people here that will help and ridicule you along the way. |
