I am going to order a DD Omega rail in the new few days. I am just wondering if there is anything that will be just as good for around the same price but with out the need of a gunsmith or tools to do it. I am pretty much sure I want the Omega rail and if I can see some pics of Carbine lenth Omega rails on your AR's it would be nice.. I want to keep this rilfe as light as I can.. I do not plan on adding any other things to the gun besdies a Ergo Suregrip and a FVG down the line.. It seems that the Omega rail is the lightest rail you can get or at least the lightest FF rail.. I do not tend to baby my AR's so I need it to be able to take some abuse if needed.. I already have a RDS on the rifle a Trijicon Reflex 30 and I have a ACOG on my other 16" HBAR rifle but that is more of a bench rifle and this one is going to be a off hand rifle for CQ shooting.. no more then 50 yards most of the time but it is fun to ring the steal plates out at 200M but no more then that since the Reflex 30 has a 6.5 MOA dot and that is kinda why I got it.. I wanted somthing easy to pick up and fire.. the Upper is a LMT M4 profile 16" and the lower is a M&P.. I heard the Surefire Rail systems are good but not FF but if they are any better I dont mind it not being FF since I am not looking for good groups I just want to be able to hit the target and have a rugged rifle.. Right now I have it all stock and I put 200 rounds down it and not one prob so im off to a good start and this will be my home defence rifle.. I have come to realize that even a stock AR in the right hands can do just as good as a tacticool looking rifle so I am not going to worry about the looks just a light fast AR.. thanks

If you can turn a screwdriver you can install an Omega rail.

Omega will fill the role that you are asking.  It's light, tough and easy to install.

read please

I know that it does not take a gunsmith to install that is the reason I want it. I am not a gunsmith nor do I pretend to me just cuz I can put a lower on a upper and call it a AR I built..

Your post was very difficult to read.

Apparently the other people who read your post feel so as well since they responded with practically the same answer...

Andy

DD Omega will be much easier to install.

The LaRue is very high quality as well, installation will be more difficult though.

Free float AND no-gunsmithing is the biggest advantage of the Omega, IMO.
Surefire will get the job done, but at new cost($200 vs. $250), I would choose the Omega. You can pick up a used Surefire in the EE a whole lot cheaper.
Both are very solid. The Surefire uses what seems like a lot of tension on the barrel to achieve this, though.
The Surefire top rail is not the same height as the upper's rail. This really doesn't matter since I wouldn't mount optics on it anyway...
The profile of a Surefire will feel more like a CAR(round) handguard, whereas the Omega, will feel more like an M4(oval) handguard. If you plan on using a VFG, the Omega will mount the grip further from the bore than the Surefire.

I like Omegas enough to put on my go-to guns and I'm a LaRue fan boy.

Awesome I just put in a order with Bravo Company for all the stuff I need for my LMT.

Daniel Defense Omega Rail (Black)

Magpul CTR-M (Milspec) Stock (FLAT DARK EARTH)

Magpul MIAD Grip - BASIC - (FLAT DARK EARTH)

Magpul XTM Rail Cover  (FLAT DARK EARTH)

TangoDown QUICK DETACH Vertical Grip  (FLAT DARK EARTH)

As for the optic I have a Trijicon Reflex 30

I just wanted min amount of weight for this AR. My Armalite has a HBAR so it is pretty much more of a bench rifle so it gets the ACOG.. but my LMT gets to wear FDE and a M4 Profile BBL so it will be pretty fast.. I cant wait to get this thing done.. I was almost going to go with Black agian but I wanted somthing different and it also matches my area very well a long with my local range.. I just cant wait for the killflash for the Reflex 30 to come out, I believe that will really top it off..

Thank's for the info and pics
