Did a search and still a bit confused.  Have a Bushmaster A2 buttstock lower, presumably with commercial receiver extension.  Just received a MagPul CTR (commercial) buttstock.  Before I start fiddling with this...is this going to work out OK, or do I need other parts to make the switch?  Thanks for any help.

You need a collapsible stock buffer tube, the spring and the buffer. You also need the endplate that goes on the receiver to hold the takedown spring in...

... and a castle nut.

Just a thought ... since you will be rebuilding the rear end anyways, if you can exchange the commercial CTR for a milspec one, that might be a better way to go.

+1

the buffer tube the A2 uses will not work with a collapsible stock.  and as said above you need a new tube, spring and buffer (the A2 ones are to long), end plate and castle nut.

I just ordered a Mil Spec buffer tube from M&A parts for $25 which is a pretty good price and they have them in stock (of course that is if your stock is a mil spec one)

Thanks guys...it is making sense now.  I think I can put the CTR commercial on a RRA carbine buttstock lower so it won't be wasted (or returned).  I'll get the parts to rebuild the Bushy A2 rear end using a mil-spec. receiver extension/parts.  Just more money to spend to get everything right.  Don't think my wife likes BRD all that much.

Good plan.  Tell your wife it's part of the new administration's economic stimulus plan and you're doing it for the good of the country.
