i have stag model 2 i got a few weeks ago.  the plastic handguards move  a little bit

around the bbl, not really a big deal, just wondering if there is any way to stop this?

also i was thinking of putting the midwest industries tactical rail and vfg underneath the

handguards and was wondering if any one that has this setup could let me know how

they like/dislike it?

thanks in advance

Why not get a free float tube?  My plastic hand guards on my BM Government 20" move a bit. I'm not sure there's much you can do other than replace them with a different set or try to crimp so tin foil on the ends.

Doesn't the whole upper move a bit anyway?

i don't really need a railed tube now and kinda like the look of hanguards with a vfg.

just wondering if there were an trickss to stop em from shifting a little bit.

thanks.

no, the upper's pretty well fitted to the lower and doesn't move at all.

They can be tightened with JB Weld.  Look at the handguards where they lock into the barrel nut when they are off the rifle.  That is where the JB Weld goes, just a dab will do it.  Apply and let it get a bit hard before installing.  Coat the barrel nut with wax to prevent the JB Weld from sticking.

Get buddy help per the TM or have a Delta ring tool.

Done correctly, you will not be able to see the JB Weld.  This can also be done up front if you have full length handguards and the triangular cap.

The OEM handguards from Stag are a bit loose fitting.  I would replace them with a set of dual heat shield ones from BCM.  They fit much tigher and work better.

thanks, just the type of trick i was looking for.  i've got to take the handguards off anyway to put a rail and vfg on.

thanks again.

This, BCM parts are top of the line! Shipping is fast.

You can wait on the Magpul MOE plastic front handguard.  Designed to fit a VFG on it from the get-go.  They are starting to ship them now, should be showing up soon online.  Typically what is moving is the front retaining ring, not the plastic handguard itself(the movement is actually normal for any standard CAR/M4 handguard).

I had a rail mounted on the bottom of my M4 handguard and it lasted all of a week before buying a MI ff setup.

??

I've owned 7 Colt CARs in the past and don't recall any movement at all with the handguards. Perhaps you mean its normal for aftermarket CAR handguards?

My buddies Colt 6924 (think I have that number right) handguards move a lot.  My 2 RRA handguards move very little to none at all.  It is very normal for colt and commercial brands to have some movement.
