Haven't heard much about the MRP's here.  Is there anyone who has or had one?  If so, was it worth the money.  Pics and feedback would be appreciated.  Thinking about buying one for my Lauer lower, but wanted to make sure it was worth it. Thanks...  Oh and what other alternative for a mono upper is there if this is not worth buying.

That is the exact setup I have-a LMT MRP upper on a Lauer lower

The upper is top notch and well worth it- quick barrel/bolt changes and you can have a completely different rifle. I am selling this upper on the EE if interested (to fund a POF .308)

There is a 37 page thread tacked at the top of this forum...  All you could want and more...  But watch out - you're likely to experience a BRD flare up looking at all the goodies...

I've got an older rifle length MRP and a Lauer lower and they work well together...

MRP is the best choice if you want to swap calibers easily.  Currently you can get 5.56, 6.8, and .204 Ruger barrels for it.  5.56 barrels are available in 10.5, 14.5, 16, 18" and I'm not 100% sure of the other caliber lengths.  Barrels are rumored to be made from Mike Rock blanks and use a proprietary barrel extension LMT sells to no one.  The barrels have a fairly heavy profile.  The only other monolithic type upper is the Vltor and it is slightly cheaper but does not have the quick change ability of the MRP.  And LMT has just released their piston upper based on the MRP.

I absolutely love my 14.5 MRP - 1500 rounds with absolutely no failures of any kind. I like the no-gap rail and easy switch of barrel lengths while keeping the same sight/rail/light - it saves me money compared to 2 uppers. If you're excited about pistons or 6.8 it a good way to go too.

I'm running an LMT 10.5" MRP that Wes at MSTN built for me complete with an LMT enhanced FA bolt group and a Phantom flash hider----on my M16.  The thing runs like a raped ape.  Shooting XM-193 and PRI.  I'm very impressed and am thinking of picking up a 14.5" barrel for it sometime.  Money well spent for me!!
