I want to add a new barrel to my AR. I was told that I should torque the barrel nut to 150 ft/lbs? Is this right? Thanks

No, that's way too much.  30 ft/lbs minimum

wow...who told you that?

They are either dumb or they don't like you. 150 ft/lbs would most likely cause something to break, or be darn close to breaking something (such as the upper receiver).

Marine corps manual states 31-35 ftlbs.

If you ever tried to take off a barrel there would be times that you would swear they did torque it to 150 ft/lbs

80 ft-lbs is the max.
