Service rifle shooters who use a sling, no doubt benefit from the use of a free float tube/handguard.  For more casual shooting off a sandbag or bipod, does using a free float handguard really make any difference in accuracy, particularly with the now commonly used 16" barrels?

YES !

Whether the difference is significant with the rifle in your hands and for your application is something for you to decide. Given that a plain-vanilla FF tube costs about $40, does not really add weight or bulk, and is not too difficult to install with the proper tools, for me its a no-brainer... all my AR15s have FF tubes.

There is no particular correlation between barrel length and accuracy.

Yes.  A FF tube makes a difference.  This target was shot by my non-match bumming-around-gun

Where are these $40 easy to install FF tubes you mention?

I use these when my customer just wants a simple free float tube.  These work very well.

And they go on without taking the gasblock off?

This rail is a two-piece design: barrel nut and hand guard/tube.  The hand guard fits over all the low profile gas blocks I have used.

Do you have a link to somewhere so I can look at the design myself and I don't have to bug you with a bunch of questions?

I want to know the in's and out's of the installation without having to bug someone on the board.

MillerSHO,

No worries.  Glad to help.  I know where one is for photos, and if I can get there, I'll photograph it for you.

You may already know about this thread.  Just in case you do not, a link is below.  It is full of information about installing just about everything on an AR, including FF tubes.
