I am pretty new to the AR world and I am doing some research for my first AR. My question is what are the advantages/disadvantages of a SS barrel VS a chrome lined barrel. I would like a barrel that will last for a while, and I am not looking to shoot super accurate sub MOA groups. What would be the best barrel for me? Specific recommendations are welcome/encouraged.

Thanks
Nateroach

Chrome Lined lasts a long longer and is easier to clean, and IMO accurate enough for any non-competition or benchrest shooter.

SS is more accurate but has a shorter lifespan.

Go with the chrome lined bore and chamber as previously mentioned. Go with an m4gery. They weigh less than the ss bull barrels and are plenty accurate. You might wanna wait for the masada( Bushmaster acr)  to emerge. or For a 1st ar I would recommend a Stag Model 1 or 2. They are the best bang for your buck! (pun intended)

First AR I would say go with a Chrome-Lined Bushy or RRA. Have fun with it. Learn how it works. Then build it the way you want based what you learned.
