| Will a 9" MI 2-piece FF rail sit sturdy on an upper over a low pro gas block alone while not touching an end cap like it does against a FSB? I have a CMMG 10.3 that's become my back up. I've removed the FSB & I believe that the MI 9" FF will extend past the gas block while allowing the use of my AAC M4-1000 & not interfer with it. A 10" would be great but I think that it may be too long. Does anyone have one on their 10.3 that can advise? My second option would be the DD 9" or 10" Light rail. |

The MI 21 is a free float rail and doesn't touch the FSB of end cap. It sits about 1/16th on an inch away from the cap. I'm not positive if a low pro gas block for a carbine will fit underneath the MI mid-length rail. There is a U shaped support piece that sits at the end of the rail near the FSB that may interfere with the block. I'm positive it would not interfere with the suppressor though. A 10" rail would be nice if you could find one that fit everything underneath. |
How far back should a gas block be from this U shaped support piece? If their 9" (mid length) FF is too short to be compatible with a gas block, what rails are recommended? What rails will allow the fitting of an AAC M4-1000 inside their inner diameter? Thanks. |

I only have the MI rail so I can't really be much help with anything else. The U support isn't very thick but the would not be much room for even a small gas block. But I do not know for sure whether one would fit or not. It just looks really tight when comparing my two rifles. As far as a 10" rail, your best bet is to measure the diameter of the AAC and then ask around. I'm just thinking that would look pretty sweet having the suppressor begin just about where the rail ends. I'm sure it would overlap slightly. |
| Thanks ripper. I was just advised that a micro gas block will work fine to allow clearance behind the "U" support at the front of the rail. The outer diameter of the can is 1.50" but I guess that doesn't much with the MI rail & the type of support unit it uses at the front portion, right? |
